Roadmap

Where Iris is now, and what comes next.

Iris is being built in four product phases, with the trust model of the attestation layer decentralizing in parallel.

Product Phases

Product phases

  1. In progress: Demo

    An end-to-end round on a single machine: a minimal committee, mock Data Provider integration, and a demo IrisVerifier contract on a local devnet.

  2. Planned: MVP

    Real Data Provider TLS sessions inside TEEs, a foundation-operated TLSNotary, a multi-region testnet, and the first external integrators.

  3. Planned: V1

    A staked committee, permissionless Relayers, and mainnet deployment.

  4. Planned: V1+

    Further decentralization milestones beyond V1, as detailed in the protocol spec.

Attestation Layer

Notary decentralization, on its own track

  1. Planned: Hosted

    TLSNotary's hosted service — the starting point at MVP.

  2. Planned: Foundation-operated

    The Iris Foundation runs the notary infrastructure directly.

  3. Planned: Permissionless staked

    Anyone can run a notary by staking into the network.

  4. Planned: Threshold notarization

    Notarization becomes fully decentralized and multi-party.

Trust in the attestation layer is a separate question from trust in the committee that assembles a panel. The two tracks decentralize on their own schedules — showing both here is a more honest picture of the network's trust assumptions than folding them into a single timeline.

Status

Where we are now

Current focus is the Demo phase: getting a multi-node local network to produce a sealed panel end-to-end. This section will update as that milestone lands.
